LATISSE™

LATISSE™ is the latest innovation for eyelashes, but it certainly isn't the first. The ancient Egyptians and Greeks used eye paint and make-up to define eyes, lashes and brows to protect against the sun and the evil eye! During the Renaissance, aristocracy raised the desire for lush alluring eyelashes to a new level. Mascaras were homemade of ashes and castor oil. The first mascara was invented in 1840 by Eugene Rimmel, a London perfumer. In 1913, Maybelline was born but most didn't realize its main ingredient was Vaseline. The last major advancement came in 1989 with MaxFactor and its No Color Mascara.

In 2009, LATISSE™ vaulted onto the scene as the first FDA-approved prescription treatment to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker.

LATISSE™ is believed to affect the growth phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways:
• it increases the length of this phase
• it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase.

The FDA reviewed clinical study results to verify the identity, potency, purity and stability of the ingredients, and demonstrated that the product is safe and effective for its intended use if used as prescribed.
